A short video of our day attending the Thailand Grand Festival Sydney, held in Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour.
The festival is the Thai community’s effort to promote Thailand locally. This event has been part of the City of Sydney Living In Harmony series since 2014 and is held annually. If you are like us and have fallen in love with Thailand, it is a nice taster of the food, culture and welcoming spirit of Thailand that people fall in love with.

What was once a simple food fair 20 years ago has now grown into a Grand Festival where Sydney-siders can give their senses a twirl, discovering all the delicious flavours, colours and sounds of Thailand. Food stalls from Sydney’s top Thai restaurants will be dishing up a tantalising array of tasty treats.
If cooking is your thing, you will enjoy seeing the award-winning chefs from ‘Spice I am’ and ‘At Bangkok Restaurant’ demonstrate how they create their magic dishes so effortlessly.
While you inhale the mouth-watering aromas enticing you to devour plate after plate of delicious food, you can swill a Thai beer down while watching Thai traditional dancers mesmerize the audience with their colourful performances.
You can watch beautiful dances like the Fon Leb or Fingernail Dance, a famous dance from the North of Thailand, or Rum Klong Yao, a lively colourful dance to the beat of a slow drum. Or you might prefer Pong Lang, a quick exciting dance from Northeastern region of Thailand.
I have to admit that Thai massages are my type of pamper. The masseuse instinctively knows exactly where my tension is and will work their magic until there are no more knots. No doubt a visit to the Thai Massage Pavilion will relieve that working week tension.
Learn some stress relieving moves to get fit at the Thai Kick Boxing Demonstrations and Exhibition about Muay, Thai’s tradition of “Wei Kru”.
Action galore with displays of traditional Martial arts, stick and sword fighting.
No festival would be without some fun for the kids. They can learn to be creative the Thai way.
There will be so much to see. Visit Tumbalong Park at Darling Harbour and discover beautiful Thailand and all it has to offer.
